Recently I drove past the Corobrik offices and was taken back in time. A few years from my past flashed before my eyes and a wide recollection of memories filled my heart. The humble three holed piece of baked clay that grew into a nation builder. This is one of the companies that have built the rainbow nation brick by brick. Remember the bricks thrown at police vans, the bricks in the road blockades, the bricks on the prison walls, the schools etc. The humble four roomed kasie house and the upmarket mansion in the nothern suburbs- all owe their charm to the clay brick factory from Durban. Today every investment in real estate has a few of these colourful buggers. This is building wealth in a true sense of the word
Face it-this is one company that can boast having built the nation- 105 years and counting
Driving past this building didn’t just bring back memories- it also flooded my mind with ideas.
I have been in talks with the top guns at Corobrik regarding an annual event I would like them to sponsor. In my generation when one mentioned Corobrik the first thing that came to mind was man/woman stealing. You see, the act of man stealing was called Corobrik.
This is the issue currently in conversation between me and the management of Corobrik. The Annual Corobrik Awards- Recognizing excellence in man/woman stealing.
Our celebrities and politicians seem to excel in this area and I (with the help of Corobrik) am in the process of creating this annual event to recognize and reward them.
The proposed categories are:
Corobrik Best survivor-
Corobrik Worst loser-lost to a maid or garden attendant
Corobrik Best newcomer - Stole from a celebrity
Corobrik Nation Builder- pregnant/fathers from a recent steal
Corobrik Renovator- made up after a loss
Corobrik Reposessor-stole back
You most probably have nominees for these categories. Me too. Good! We getting somewhere!
More categories and nominees are invited and the success of this event depend on the popularity and demand
Please post your suggestion on more categories here
